We were first introduced to this sake when our friend Gordon worked at this brewery over a decade ago and now we are proud to import it. Using the first categorized yeast (1895), the taste suggests what sake was a hundred years ago – rich but dry and savory with balancing acidity.

Perfect in pottery and with richer dishes like dumplings, lamb and duck. Can stand up to mirin and shoyu braises.

Founded in 1699, “Wakatakeya is inherited from ancestors and is not a business, rather entrusted to descendants.” “Entrusted from descendants” means to “return” to descendants in their original natural form so that they can continue to receive blessings in the future. In addition, the phrase “inherited from our ancestors and not in business” also means technology and customers are not inherited conservatively, but should always be innovative in response to customer requests. Tradition therefore results from continuous self-transformation and management innovation.
